My Allergies Will Be The End Of Me

Since I was a youngster I have suffered from dust and hay fever allergies. My parents were always concerned and made me take different medicines, wear special baby clothes, dresses and underwear. I actually had to replace all my bedding, covers and jackets with allergy free materials. I was not too worried and just ran around with a runny nose for most of my youth. Happily I never had asthma or an inhaler. It was not until I was 20 that my allergies became so bad I really had to make a change in my life.

I had my first food allergic reaction at the age of twenty when I bit into a strawberry. My mouth suddenly began to shiver and I found it a struggle to breathe. Since then my diet allergies have only gotten harder to handle. I am now allergic to strawberries, apples, melons, peaches, onions, garlic and extremely lactose intolerant. I have visited many allergy clinics, dermatologists and allergy services that can be offered and most have no help. My infancy dust allergies seemed to have evolved when I turned about twenty and now have become food sensitivities.

I have since then learned how to survive with my food allergies but still suffer regularly from indigestion and the infrequent allergic reaction that closes my throat. My pals love to tell me how they could never survive without any of those foods and I just laugh understanding that I might have claimed a similar thing before any of my reactions happened.

My ma, aunt and grandparents have the same allergies and theirs have evolved even further to contain gluten intolerances. I fear the day that I too cannot eat bread. My only saving grace is the existence of other individuals who are willing to help the allergy stricken. In all my research I have found many useful doctors, diet consultants and cooks. The ability to eat at a fancy restaurant with a cook working around my allergies is a blessing I never thought I’d find.

There are retail stores online and stores that specialize in nothing except the allergy friendly supplies. Due to these useful people I have been allowed survive the hardships of my allergies and ignore the undeniable fact that I can’t eat most foods.
